VR is a pretty cool gaming platform where you can get immersed in a way that you just can't with flatscreen gaming. So, I'm going to tell you what VR has to offer and what VR headsets you can get right now.
The first VR headset I'd like to talk about is the Oculus Quest, now you can't buy the Oculus Quest by official means anymore because it was replaced with a better Quest 2 but it's the one I own so it's going on this page. Now the Oculus Quest was the very first all in one VR headset now this means that it's completely wireless and you don't need a PC to run it all you really need is the Oculus app to set it up you also don't need any base stations because all the tracking is done through the four cameras at the front of the headset. Now because it's an all in one VR headset it dosn't have graphics as good as PC VR. Overall the Oculus Quest is a pretty good VR headset but it was replaced by the headset I'll be talking about next.
The Oculus Quest 2 is Oculus' second all in one VR headset it introduced better graphics, a single screen LCD panel, and it's 100 dollars cheaper that the Quest 1 it also has a Qualcomm Snapdragon XR2. Now I know what you might be thinking, "What if at some point I get a PC that's capable of VR when I still have the Quest 2?" Well the Quest 2 has got you covered because with the Oculus link cable you can plug it in to your PC and play PC VR games which is pretty cool also note that the Quest 1 had this too. Overall the Quest 2 is one of the best VR headsets on the market right now and you should buy it.
The Rift S is Oculus' PC VR headset it's a nice entry level headset like the Quest 2 but you need a PC to run it now some benefits of having the Rift S instead of the Quest include: you don't need to buy a seperate cable to plug it into the PC, the Rift S is built for PC VR, and with the Quest 2 your PC needs specific specs in order to run PC VR on it but with the Rift S it's not as specific. Overall the Rift S is still a great option for entry level VR.
The Valve Index is a VR headset made by Valve now Valve did partner with HTC at the beginning of VR's life but this is a VR headset made completely by Valve now it offers the best graphics out of all the VR headsets on this page and it also offers individual finger movement with the knuckles controllers this means you don't have to press a button in order to pick stuff up all you do is squeeze the controller it's really cool the Index is also the best way to experience some of PC VR's best games like Half-Life: Alyx and Boneworks now I know that the price might put some people off on getting it but is really is one of the best VR headsets you can get.
Now we get on to the last and most recent headset on this page the HP Reverb G2 is a headset made by HP who also partnered with Valve to create this headset now this is a good in between from the Index and the Quest 2/Rift S now because of this it is able to be a nice entry level PC VR headset because it has nicer graphics than the Quest2/Rift S but it doesn't require a higher end PC like the Index. Overall the HP Reverb G2 is one of the best entry level VR headsets out there.
VR has some pretty cool games you can get for it and here are some of them.
Beat Saber is a pretty good rythm game where you cut blocks with sabers to the beat of the music now I'm sure you probaly know what Beat Saber is so I'm not going to add anything more to describing the game so my point is that if you have a VR headset Beat Saber is a must buy.
Now we get onto Pistol Whip which is my favorite VR game ok so in the game there are different songs you choose and in those songs you shoot bad guys and basically feel like John Wick you also get extra points by shooting the bad guys in the beat of the music you also get extra points for hitting enemies with your pistol or, "pistol whipping" now in my opinion Pistol Whip is a must buy like Beat Saber.
SUPERHOT VR is VR shooter where time only moves when you move and you feel like your in the Matrix. The premise is simple shoot red guys but there is a small story to go with it. Overall SUPERHOT VR is a fun VR shooter which is once again a must buy for any VR user.
Overall VR is a gaming platform that's still growing and also has a lot of amazing games for it like there are so many I hadn't touched on so if you have $299.99 to spare or even $999.99 than I truly believe that you should just go out and buy a VR headset, it truly is one of the best gaming experiences out there.
