Ballet

Ballet is probably the type of dance that comes to mind when you think of the word "dance" Keep reading to learn the 5 positions that your feet use in ballet. 'First Position' First position is when your heels are together and your toes are facing outwards. Put your heels together so your toes on your right fot are facing to the right and your toes on your lest foot are facing to the left. Tada! You just did first position!"Second Position" To do second position, all you need to do is put your feet in first position, the slide the outwards so they are equal with the width of your shoulders. "Third Position" Third position is a forgotten position to ballerinas. It is not commonly used for anything. Anyways, to do third position you need to go back to first position,(I know, right?) and then you need to slide your foot forward (It doesn't usually matter which foot, unless you are given further instructions) and your heel of that foot needs too meet the middle of your other foot. "Fourth Position" To do fourth position you need to slide your foot forward from third position so it is about one foot from your other foot."Fifth Position" Put your foot in fourth position, then slide it in to your heel meets the toes of your other foot. MAKE SURE YOUR FEET STAY TURNED OUT!!! Now you have learned five basic things about ballet!

Jazz

Jazz is a pretty easy type of dance to learn. There are no strict rules to this dance. Jazz can be very upbeat but also it can be slow. Make sure you have a lot of sass for this class! Also, a side note for this class, when you do piques, your knee always faces forward, not to the side, which you do in ballet. As I said, jazz is pretty easy, so if you join this class, you should not have very many problems learning it.

Lyrical

Lyrical is a really slow type of dance. It is almost like ballet, but in this genre you move a lot slower. Also, in this type of dance, you really stretch your body and milk every move you do. You really have to exaggerate everything you do as well. If you are a beginner to dance, I would suggest this type of dance because it really lets you grasp everything you do in dance throughout your dancing years.
