Rhode Island's vastly differing climate throughout each season can make it a difficult but rewarding place to fish. Fishing season in RI commences on the second saturday of april, and strecthes all the way until the end of november. These guidelines do only pretain to stocked trout waters however, so fisherman going after other species are permitted to continue their hobby year-round. Late spring and early summer are by far the best times to fish, as the water is finally warming, and most fish are extreamly active. However, some more elusive species, such as the large, predatory northern pike, are actually much easier to catch in the cold winter months while ice fishing.
