Fallout 4 Tips, Tricks, Advice, and Ideas
1.) Scafolding Guard Towers
When making defenses in Fallout 4 one must be prepared for any attacks from anything. The thing is, when building defenses (turrets, mines, traps, etc) those defenses can easily be destroyed since most of your defenses (if you are a novice builder) are on the ground. The trick is to make elevated areas for the defenses. I recommend scafolding guard towers (keep in mind, you need the contraptions workshop dlc to do so). What you need to do first is to create a scafolding tower found in the scafolding section in the build menu. Next step is to put an elevated guard tower on top of the tower (note, sometimes the area is not great enough to put the elevated guard tower down. When this occurs, jump until the area to place the tower lights up.) Assign a settler to the guard post and watch as they walk up the tower. (note, you may have to fiddle with it to get the settler up the tower, but this only happens when you don't give enough room to have the settlers walk up to the top floor of the scafolding tower).
2.) 360 Defense Turret Towers
(note, this tip was created by the Youtuber Oxhorn I just liked the style of it so I chose to include it). This tip kinda goes along with the last tip. When building turrets, find a place to put the turrets so that they don't have an easy way to access. A way to combat the problem of getting the turrets easily accessable is to make elevated turret defense posts. How to make turret defense post (use the wasteland/contraptions workshop dlc) is to use two sets of long scafolding platforms stacked from contraptions workshop or to use the concrete poles and circular platforms from wasteland workshop. When creating the ones with concrete poles put one pole on the ground, stack a circular platform on the pole, the repeat. put sets of turrets to your liking on the platform. When creating the scafolding platfroms, build long scafolding platforms stacked up with floors, then place turrets on both floors. Easy and efficient.
3.) Locate Spawn Points
When you need to defend your setlement from enemies, its probably a good idea to make sure you know where the enemy is coming from. For this reason alone I recomend looking up where the enemy spawn points are in any given settlement. When you figure out where the spawn points are you can find out how to use tip 1 and tip 2. I would recomend using the turret tower around the enemy spawn point to bombard the enemy with firepower while placing the scafolding guard towers near the area in case any enemy gets through (which if you followed tip 3 correctly, that shouldn't happen).
Conclusion
In conclusion, I hope you take these tips with a grain of salt. Most of these tips are meant to be made creativly, so put whatever homemy touches you want on the turret towers or add lights to the scafolding. Do whatever you want, but always remember... War... War Never Changes.
