Here’s a short summary of Percy Jackson and the Olympians:
In this middle-grade novel, Percy Jackson has been kicked out of six schools in six years, being a “problem child” with ADHD and dyslexia. Soon after, when he finds himself in middle-school, he is kicked out once more, before discovering his true origins: as a demigod with a father as an actual, breathing Greek god. However, tragedies occur on Percy’s way to his prophetic, tragic destiny, and Percy has long since learned that the gods have enemies - and by extension, Percy does too.
Here's a short review of the novel:
This novel has been a classic for the longest time, still readable and noteworthy even about a decade after its release, still resonating with children. The main characters are snappy, relatable, and have their own troubles, making them dynamic characters. From the first page - the first line even - it hooks the reader in its enrapturing snare, never giving up the reader’s fragile attention. Percy is sarcastic and realistically funny, whereas there’s an air of tragedy and melancholy in this character. The other character Annabeth is smart and filled to the brim with wit and ambition - while the comic relief, Grover, is still portrayed with gratuitous development that make him a satisfying character. Despite it being middle-grade, it tackles a lot of heavy topics later on in the book, similarly to Harry Potter, if that other children’s series had been done better. Overall, this was my favorite book when I was ten, and still, it has been preserved in memory and in my mind.
