Another one of my sources was from a teacher at this school Todd Golding since I knew he teaches Russian and world history and Sergey is also from Russia I emailed him for some insight

Here is what he said:

"Mr. Moriarty—very interesting. I did NOT know a thing about this fellow. Wow! His name in Cyrillic is Сергей Брин. Just did some reading on him. It turns out his family and he were Refuseniks. You might like to look that up. There is an interesting connection with the Refusenik movement to a Rabbi Gedalyah Engel who lived in West Lafayette (passed away several years ago).
