    Most types of hummingbirds are 3-4 inches in length.

  1. Wingspan!
  2. Ruby-throated hummingbirds have a wingspan that is 4 - 4.75 inches. Rufous hummingbirds wingspans are 3.5-4 inches long.

  3. Weight!
  4. Hummingbirds are extreamly small, the largest hummingbird wheighs 18-24 grams, and the smallest humming bird, known as the bee hummingbird wheighs less then 2 grams.

  1. Eggs!
  2. Hummingbirds eggs are the size of a jelly bean, they wheigh less then a gram, and are super small. The eggs hatch around the end of spring or start of summer.

  3. Incubation!
  4. Hummingbirds will incubate their eggs from 11-18 days. Female hummingbirds are the ones who incubate there eggs.

  5. Nesting/Young!
  6. When an egg hatches, the other one will hatch too, even if they are not laid at the same time. Hummingbirds will stay in there nest for 3 weeks, after that, they will leave their nest forever.

  7. Population!
  8. Diffrent types of hummingbids have diffrent populations, but the ruby-throughted hummingbirds have a population around 34 million.

  1. Strength!
  2. A hummingbird can cary 3-6 grams and be able to fly!

  3. Speed!
  4. Hummingbirds can dive at speeds of 45 mph! They can fly at speeds up to 30 mph too!

  5. Flight Height!
  6. Hummingbirds somehow have the amazing abillity to fly almost 4,000 meters above sea level, that high up, there is very little O2, so it must be very hard!

  1. Habitat!
  2. Most hummingbirds live in the tropics, but many speices nest in the U.S.

  3. Nests!
  4. Hummingbird nests are built on a single branch, and are made out of many things like silk and flowers.

  1. Lifespan!
  2. Hummingbirds normaly live 3-5 years long.

  3. Mating/Mates!
  4. To show mating, the male flys out of sight, then dives down at incredible speeds.

  5. Diet!
  6. Hummingbirds eat bugs and nector from plants. If you want to feed one, you need to combine sugar and water.
