The book Witchlings is a fantasy novel with some reference to the author's dominican heritage. It is based on a girl named Seven, a young witchling, who wants desperately to be placed in the House of Hyacinth coven with her best friend Poppy. But unfortunately, her worst fears become reality and Seven is placed in the Spare coven, the outcast coven, instead. To make matters worse, her archnemisis Valley and an overly chatty new girl named Thorn are placed in the Spare coven with her. On top of that, Seven can't seal herself in her coven with the manditory spell. Suddenly, Seven finds herself embarking on the Impossible Task that will seal her into her coven if completed. Will Seven find a way to befriend her new coven members and solve the Impossible Task? Or will she be punished by being turned into a toad forever?

Avery feels cramped and overwhelmed with so many kids in the family, especially when she has to share a room with them. All Avery wants is her own room. So when her brother gets his own room instead of her, Avery is extremely disapointed. Determined, Avery sets off to raise money to get a room of her own in the basement. This is a heartfelt, funny, and beautifully illustrated graphic novel for middle grade readers.
