Boba Tea is a regular tea that usually has an addition of milk to make it more creamy. For the non-dairy tea there is usually a subsitute for the milk, so that it still has a creamy taste. The boba that is added into the tea is optional. Boba is made from tapioca, which is a gluten-free starch extracted from the root of a cassava plant. Boba has a chewy almost gummy like texture. The taste of boba has been hard for many to describe. There are multiple boba flavors. How they get these flavors is by adding them in, and mixing them with the milk that I addressed earlier on.
