Californian Rabbit

Back to Home

California rabbits were originally bred for the meat and fur industries, beginning in the early 1920s near Lynwood, California. New Zealand rabbits, chinchillas, and Himilayans were crossed to create the Californian rabbit.

Californian rabbits are highly suitable as pets due to their friendly and docile nature. While other rabbits can be hard to pick up and play with, Californian rabbits are typically easy to pick up, carry, and play with, making them good family pets.

Californian rabbits are now the second most popular meat producing rabbit breed, and their high quality fur classifies them as a fancy breed.
