My Scratch Projects
By Faiez K.
During this year of 6th grade ICT class, we have followed along with ALOT of projects on Scratch with our teacher and Al Sweigart. My favorite game we have made was the Fruit Slicer
Cat Double Jump
The Cat Double Jump Program was the first project that we coded together, and was the first, coolest one that we made at the time. It taught me the different blocks, and how to program.
- Arrow Keys
- Slowing Gravity
- Being Able to Double Jumping
- The wraparounds
- The different music and sounds
- The different stages
Daleks
The Daleks program was basically a survival game, where you have a shield and need to defeat all the bats to win. You also had a teleporter every 5 seconds. If a bat touches you, you lose. But, if you defeated every bat with your shield, you would win. It was the second game but it was one of my favorites.
- A teleporting device which can take you anywhere on the screen, but it could kill you. You get it every 5 seconds.
- The shield is the only way to kill the bats, when activated, it spawns a shield, when you run up to a bat then it will die. The cooldown is 10 seconds. My shield is different colors.
- There is a game over screen and a victory screen. These screens indicate whether you won or lose,(you should normally now if you won because your focused but, it can be useful.)
Rainbow Lines
After the Daleks game we decided to make a new game from Al Sweigart called rainbow lines. It was really random, but it looked really pretty. Overall, it had the lease work but was the most beautifully designed.
- We created sliders which can change the transparency, color, and size of the lins. They could be a different type of color. The trancparency changed how much you could view the lines. And the size changed how big the lines were. You could change all of this with the sliders.
- The lines would change colors, and make weird shapes depending on how many dots you added in your project. They could also be turned into turbo mode which was fun.
- We also made it to where the lines would reset every 6 seconds to make sure that the lines wouldn't clog up the whole platform.
Asteroids
Asteroids was a fun game, you would have to destroy asteroids to survive, there wasn't really a win, but you could get a new high score. It made an easy looking game into a different type of code.
- We made a gliding mechanic which changed the asteroids and the ship to move. They also were slightly moved if standing still.
- Also we created clones of an asteroid which changed because they would keep spawning a fresh clone for you to beat.
Fruit Slicer
This was the last game, which introduced more complexed bocks like the new blocks we made, defined in lists, which had different variables which were changed every millisecond. It was complex, and made a great final game.
- We made new blocks, variables within lists,And much more.
- there was a beginning screen where you could slice start.
- With the list blocks and variables we made a slicer which could turn the fruit into point for you and break them in half.
- There was also a could high score which calculated every ones high score and combined them to see who had the best high score.
- We also made a health system, so if you missed 1 fruit you would lost 1 health bar, you have 3 so be careful about what you don't slice and what you do slice.
- DO NOT SLICE THE CAKES. They will instantly make you lose, they are to be avoided.
- We also cheated, BE QUIET DON'T TELL ANYONE ABOUT THEM. They are a big secret which allows you to gain health on the demand. They are pretty broken.
After all the programs we made, and after all the clicks made to code in scratch. We decided to move on, leaving scratch and learning coding in Doctype html. IT was fun but now we are over.
