Now I am not Babe Ruth, but I would have to agree with him on this. Many people have different opinions on this, some like basketball, football, or soccer better and I can understand why but baseball is the best game in the world to me.

Baseball is a game that consists of 9 players on each team. In baseball you can either be on offense or defense, the players on offense use a bat to try to hit the ball and get around the bases, eventually to home plate to score.

The defense tries to stop the offensive players from reaching home plate. To do this, the defense must get them out by striking them out, catching them out, or throwing them out. When the defense gets three outs then the team that was on offense goes to defense and vice versa. In the end, whichever team has scored more runs wins.

A History of Baseball

Early baseball was developed in England, it came from a game called rounders which uses 5 sticks as bases. In 1846 the first official game was played by the Knickerbockers against a professional cricket team.

The first baseballs that were made usually consisted of a rubber cord from old, melted shoes that were wrapped up in yarn and leather. Sometimes fisheyes were used as cores for balls.
