Girls lacrosse game set up
- Girls' lacrosse is a fast-paced, non-contact sport where two teams of 12 players (11 field players and 1 goalie) use netted sticks to pass, catch, and shoot a ball into the opponent’s goal. Played in four 15-minute quarters, it requires less protective gear than the boys' game, typically only needing a mouthguard, stick, and eye protection.
- Lacrosse is the oldest team sport in North America, rooted in Indigenous stickball games. Often called "the fastest game on two feet", it blends the quickness of basketball, the flow of soccer, and the physicality of hockey. Two teams compete to shoot a hard rubber ball into a 6 ft × 6 ft goal.
- Movement: Players maneuver the ball by passing or running with it. While running, they must "cradle"—rocking the stick back and forth to maintain centrifugal force—so the ball stays in the netting.
