In dnd club we of course play the game itself. Meanwhile, we also introduce new people to the game. We will also allow other games like it such as pathfinder and Call of Cthulu.
First of all you will need your players character Sheets and to make a campaign around their backstories or their characters builds. There are three ways to make a campaign off them.
The third option is the most prominent if you are playing a written campaign from a book like "Water Deep: Dragon Hiest" If you're a new dm you will most likely do option two. And if you are either an experienced dm or don't like fighting much you should do option one. You do have power at your fingertips of gods as a dm, but your goal isn't to show off to them, Your goal is to design a campaign for you players to have fun.
There are 3 main ways to play a pc (player character). A martial class like Fighter, Barbarian, or Rogue. A spellcaster like Wizard, Cleric, or Sorcerer. The third way is both a.k.a. a battle caster which is a feat you can choose. Also you will have to roll or use point buy for your stats. You can roll for your stats with a d20, or using pointbuy get a max stat of 15 on a level 1 character and have good versatility. Your dm should help you with these systems, if not use DnD Beyond.
