Bat dangers

Bats can pose a real danger to you and your pets. Bats are primary carriers of rabies and other diseases. If you find a bat on your lawn, in your house, or outside your house, contact a local pest control immediately. Especially if it is day. If you find them during day, the bat most likely has rabies because bats are nocturnal. Here are some more specific examples of bat dangers.

Rabies

Rabies is a fatal disease. It is spread by infected animals biting their victims. Rabies is a diseases that effects all of the body. It is very rare in humans, but common in many animals. Animals most likely to carry rabies are raccons, skunks, bats, foxes, and coyotes. Do not approch these animals, especially if they are acting aggresive or strange. If you find these animals in odd places like on your lawn or in your house (of course a fox or coyote wouldn't be in your house, but you should still be cautious). Some common symtoms of rabies are;

  1. fever
  2. drooling
  3. hallucination
  4. agression
  5. muscle pain
  6. vomiting
  7. dialated pupils
  8. seizures

Ebola

Ebola is yet another disease that bats can carry.

It is pretty rare for a bat to carry this disease, but it has been recorded more than once. Ebola is a sometimes fatal diseases that is very dangerous.Common symtoms include;

  1. coughing up blood
  2. internal bleeding
  3. eye redness
  4. chills
  5. red spots on skin

Histoplasmosis

Histoplasmosis is the diseases you get from being exposed to guano. This diseases is not as rare as ebola and rabies. It is oftenly caught by scientist or hikiers who venture into bat caves an people whos houses have been infested with bats. Histoplasmosis is an infection in the lungs. It is fatal if untreated. Some symtoms of this disease include;

  1. fever
  2. chills
  3. headaches
  4. muscle pain
  5. shortness of breath
  6. dry cough
  7. fatigue
