This page is an article about the popular video game "Roblox" and how it became what it is today. Note: some of the information may be incorrect or slightly off, I'm writing this from memory.
Roblox's beta test, known as Dynablocks, was released in 2004. The first account made was a test account with the username "Admin" which was terminated some time later.
Roblox officially released in 2006, however, animations for characters were not implemented and there was not much to do in games. Most of the accounts made during beta testing were terminated due to only being test accounts. The ingame currencies were known as Robux and Tix. Robux was a paid currency and Tix was given for free. Users could exchange their Tix to earn Robux, and vice versa. They could spend these currencies on avatar items, but there wasn't really accessories or T-shirts in Roblox at the time. The developers for Roblox also considered changing the avatar style to be more Lego-like with realistic faces, but it was discontinued. This idea was similar to Rthro, which would be implemented later in Roblox.
Avatar animations may have been implemented at this time, I don't really know though. The most popular games were brickbattles, which are similar to today's games such as Fortnite.
This might be wrong, but the Robloxian 2.0 bundle may have been released during this time. There were more possibilities for games on the platform. Accessories and T-shirts for avatars were also more available to players. Roblox was still a small game at the time, but still a very enjoyable one.
Nothing super important happened during this time, the 3.0 Man and Woman bundles may have been released during this time, but I'm probably wrong.
Lots of players were active on Roblox, and many Roblox veterans would claim that this was the best era. Roblox was gaining popularity, as well as R15 and Rthro models being made. R15 is a Roblox avatar model with 15 movable parts, compared to R6 models with 6 movable parts. Rthro was designed as an oppurtunity for Roblox to be "realistic", however nobody actually uses it unironically. The new logo also looked like a red sideways cheez-it. Egg hunts were popular events until they were discontinued.
A lot happened during this time, including the rise of User-Generated Content, or UGC. Some Roblox players would argue this is a good idea, others would say it leads to the downfall of Roblox. The logo was changed from red to black, which was also kind of disappointing. A lot more happened, such as dynamic heads, which were heads that could blink and use facial tracking with your webcam to make faces. And also that one time Roblox had a server outage because too many people wanted a free Chipotle burrito.
A lot has happened in 2024 despite it only being 3 months in, for example, UGC becoming more and more copyright-infringing, Roblox supposedly bringing back egg hunts, automatic chat translation, the new Golden Clockwork headphones, and more to come.
