Is it bad to be casual? (Page you are on)
Well, there's nothing inherently wrong with being casual. There are lots of casual multiplayer games that manage to keep both a hardcore and casual playerbase. Games such as Destiny 1. In D1, if you only had an hour of time to play that was still enough to get enjoyment out of the game, playing a few strikes or a couple of crucible matches and earning fitting rewards. And if you were a hardcore fan of the game, with all three of your characters at light level 400, you could still grind for loot with raids, strikes, and Trials of Osiris. Don't like your hand cannon with armor peircing rounds? Try and grind for a better one. Want some raid specific armor with abilities that make it different and stronger than most other armors? Try and grind for it. D2 did the casual part "well", but when the hardcore players of D2 got max light level, they were left with nothing. You could do the raid, and get armor that has no more value than any other armor, you could pray to RNJesus to try and get a Sins of the Past rocket launcher, one of the best legendry boss killing weapons in the game. But in the end, we get all the loot and then what? light level only affects players at a lower level, and after a certain threshold the mobs start leveling with you. Light level also has no effect in pvp, with Iron Banner and Trials of the Nine not giving any advantages to the people who worked hard to get the high level loot and armor. I am one of these people and I have stopped playing the game because of it. I really hope the Curse of Osiris DLC is enough to revive the community.
