This comic tells a new interpretation of Harleen quinzel's backstory. This is more of a darker take but its also an astounding written comic. Unlike others this is told in Harleen's point of view. A new psychiatrist in Arkham but one with a new theroy to help the minds of Gotham's criminals. Once she slowly loses her own sanity she becomes Joker's partner in crime. Besides the amazing writting the illustration doesn't disapoint. It really sets the mood of the comic while also complimenting the character's features.
The story starts after Heroes in Crisis, Harley Quinn's taste for distruction is starting to fade. The revelation of wanting to be hero makes Harley quesion if she wants to continue her havoc on Gotham. Poison Ivy on the other hand is still on the fence about it. The Floronic Man shows up to control the green, but in order to he must kill Ivy. The dynamic between Harley and Ivy is well written. Jody Houser is good like that, all her comics i've read so far are amazing. The twist in the story surprised me but also amazed me. The ending of this comic saddened me and made me love the story more.
With new crazy friends Harley Quinn and old ones like Poison Ivy, Harley now lives in Brooklyn and fighting anything that comes her way. One thing she isn't ready for is the return of the Joker. From the first page I couldn't stop laughing. Harley's character development and her relationships with the other characters is great. This story may have its downsides but it's one I re-read whenever I want to lighten my day.
While Barbara Gordon is finishing her Christmas shopping, she sees Harley Quinn out on the streets, trying to invade police headquarters. Now dressed as batgirl She begins to chase Harley. When she does Harley explains that she had been searching for Batman to help her save Poison Ivy. I love this issue and how sweet the relationship with Ivy and Harley really is. The ending was also cute, I absoulety love batgirl in this comic too. I love how she disregards the fact that she's with "villians" and just helps Ivy and harley.
