In a volleyball game the Libero is a the designated defensive specialist. Which means that when the ball goes over the volleyball net the libero or another back row player retrieves the ball. Liberos have to be aggressive otherwise they are not good at their job because liberos are the best passers on the team. There can be up to two liberos on a team.
Liberos are not like a normal player on the court. They can go in for someone without using a substitution. The libero bumps the ball up to there setter then the setter sets the ball to the hitter which leads to the hitter hitting it down on the other side of the court, winning a point if it hits the ground.
