The right styling products for you.

So, you might or might not have heard this saying before, "If you can't read the indgredients than you shouldn't buy it" Well, this apply's to hair products just as much as it apply's to food. Although we can't protect our precious hair from everything they're some key ingredients that you should try to avoid as much as possible and here they are:

-Sulfates:(Lauryl Sulfate and Myreth Sulfate)

~Sulfates can strip natural oils from your hair as well as make your hair very dry and brittle.

-Mineral oil

~Mineral oil can lead to build up in your scalp which is not only nasty but harmful, it could also object strands of your hair to become stiff, which happens from all of the build up, mineral oil can cause.

-Silicones

~In addition to mineral oil silcones can weigh down the hair, by coating it which eventually leads to lifeless and dull hair.

-Sodium Laureth

~Sodium Laureth Sulfate like many other sulfates strip your natural oils from your scalp, leading to irratation, possible allergic reactions, and dry skin.

-Parbens

~While, in cheaper hair products you may find they contain parben this is because in skin cosmetics for example lotions, creams and cleansers parbens are actually considered good. While in hair products not so much.

*Note that these are just the ones I am aware of there are plenty more, but it's just impossible to keep up with all of them, also these are the most common ones.*

These are some of my favorite products to use:

One very important thing is too make sure you use just the perfect amount of product for your hair whether that is a mix of products, or simply just one. Too much product can result in weighed down hair which will look kind of silly especially if not distributed evenly in sections. Too less product can result in frizzy and dry looking hair.

One more tip:

When looking for the right product to use try to stick with the ones who have this little circle:

/

When looking for hair products looking for something like this on the bottle saves a lot of time becuase instead of having to figure out wheather the product contains it or not, it will just be right there. (It is usually located in the front, most of the time in a circle or list.)

Everything to know about combs and brushes.

Don't know what to use? Let me help. The tool I found that worked best on my hair was a long toothed comb, now I know you're saying oh no combs, because I used to do the same but trust me they work miracles, not only do they comb through your hair more effectivley but, also do not tear as much hair from your roots than a regualr brush would. The biggest NO NO when it comes to styling tools is a thin toothed comb, do not EVER try to comb your curls with this, not only will it increase the damage to your ends but hurt and leave your hair extremly frizzy. When using your comb you want to divide your hair into as many sections as it takes to get the job done, this truly depends on your hairs thickness and texture. Try your best not to brush your hair dry or this as well, can have many different consequences. Now as for parting your hair a or pin tail comb also know as a rat tail comb works very fine, it will definetly give you that clean part you were hoping for. If you want your hair to be differntly textured and be able to control that I have just the brush just for you. It is called a denman brush, these can be on the more pricy side, but hey it's a brush. This brush can also be used to comb out type 3c and 4 hair instead of a comb.

Heat protection

Every curly indiviual struggles with this. We want our hair to be tamed, pin staright, or just not frizzy just for a day. If you here yourself saying any of these then I would definely look into this section. It is very important to protect your hair from hot combs, flat irons, curlig irons and you get the point. Using these items to often can result in breakage, damage that takes a while to recover from, pattern destruction, and much more. I'm not saying to never straighten or curl your hair but if you are just make sure to mind these three tips:

1. Always use some type of protector.

2. Treat your hair with a mask at the end of the week( or whenever you decide to curl it back).

3. Try to only starighten it the day of and maybe once or twice more for a touchup, but NOT everyday.

Styling.

Some people dread styling their hair some don't. Wheather or not you do or don't here are the basics. Certain types of styles can be just as damaging as anything else when not doe appropratily, for example box braids, when these are left in too long it can cause some to damage to hair and after a awhile it just gets nasty. There are plenty of protective styles like a loose bun or a simple braid, but who wants to work thse all the time? Not me! Those are more styles to use when going to bed or working out, but for other occasions you mights want to wear your hair different and that is perfectly fine just make sure to care for your hair aferward.

Pool Protection.

If you live in a hot area where you are constantly jumping into a pool here are some tips to overtime save that damage and keep your hair on track. Your hair will thank me later.

1. Use some type of oil (cator oil, olive oil, vitamin e oil, coconut oil) just use something thick this will act as a shield in the chlorine.

2. Apply a leave in conditionor, this will keep your hair hydrtaed enough to keep it from drying out afterwards.

3. Resort to wet or damp hair before entering the pool. This will prevent your hair from trying to soak up the chlorine. Think of it like a sponge.

4. Make sure to enter the pool with not only a stylish hairstyle but a protected one such as any type of braid or bun!

Everybody's hair is different.

Believe it or not there are several different hair textures and here they are:

Washing

Washing your hair is a key element to healthy hair. Wheather you do it once a week, or twice. The biggest NO NO though is to not wash it everyday this will strip your hair from all of those natural oils that keep your hair strong and prevent it from becoming dried out. Your condtionor and shampoo also play a big part. Make sure you have all the right ingridents and keep out those other poor ones, I mentioned earlier. After your wash you want to use a microfiber towel to prevent frizziness and if you need a quicker dry resort to a diffuser. Apply your shampoo to just your roots and work whats left of it down towards your ends. As for conditioner apply to the ends. Maybe every other wash you could do a hair mask wheather it's homemade or bought.
