- Live below your means
- Always ask if it is a want or a need
- Create a budget
- Track your money to check where it is going. Use apps such Everydollar and NerdWallet for help
- Realize how much money is going into non-necessities(ex: Starbucks, eating out often, keeping up with new fashion trends)
- Create a plan to get out of debt (if applicable)
- Get a second job
- Listen to Dave Ramsey for his ideas and read his book, The Total Money Makeover!
- Create a rainy day fund
- Life can bring unexpected turns. Be prepared!(ex: pandemic)
- Save enough emergency funds for at least 3 months or longer. The more, the better!
- Start investing

- It can be scary but there are many informational financial books about investing
- Make sure you do your own research or get advice from someone with knowledge about investing
- Check out investing videos on Youtube
- Get rid of your credit cards
- Use cash instead. It will decrease your impulse buys!
- Save up for retirement
- There are many options such as Roth IRA, 401K, SEP, and more. Take time to learn about them
Self-discipline with money
- Set financial goals for yourself
- Practice ignoring outside pressure
- If too difficult, first let someone else hold you accountable
