Todaiji Temple is one of Japan's most famous and historically significant temples. It is a listed World Heritage Site.
Todaiji was constructued in 752 as the head temple of all provincial Buddhist temples of japan. At that time, Nara was the capital of Japan. However, because the temple had a large influence on Japanese government, the capital was moved from Nara to Nagaoka in order to lower the temple's influence.
Sometimes, visitors can encounter deers from Nara Park. Those deers would beg for shika senbei, a kind of special crackers for deer.
