There are different types of indie music. These include but are not limited to indie rock, indie folk, and indie electronica.

Indie music is a genre of music that stands for independent music. Indie music means that the creator is independent or not very famous. Most of these songs have a sad or not very happy tune to them. There are a lot of indie creators in the world.

Indie rock is the type of indie that is based around rock. Some indie rock is slow and not very fast. This music is comprised of electric guitars, drums, bass, and vocals. Some indie rock can be fast and hard but most of the time it is slow and soft.
Some examples of indie rock be Idaho, early Coldplay music, early Nirvana music, and more.

Indie folk music is music that comes from unpopular folk artists. It is pretty much acoustic instruments such as guitars, drums, and pianos mixed together. This music is my personal favorite. Most of this music is very acoustic and most of these songs sounds like someone just jamming out on their guitar in their bedroom.
Some artists who fall under this category are Jose Gonzalez, some of Gregory Alan Isakov, and much more.

You might have heard of Indie games or Indie movies or maybe even Indie developers. These are other forms indie art.

You might have heard of Life is Strange™. Life is Strange™ is a video game developed by DONTNOD™ and released by Square Enix™. Life is Strange™ is considered an Indie game because it was made with a low budget and DONTNOD™ was not popular when it first came out. The reason why this game is relevant to indie music is because the first Life is Strange™ game features a lot of indie music. Examples of this include Jose Gonzalez and other artists.
A lot Indie projects feature other Indie creations.
A good indie film example would be Lost in the City™. This film is confused with The Lost City™ which features Sandra Bollock and Channing Tatum. Lost in the City™ is an indie film directed by Lara Celenza and written by Lara Celenza. It was produced and developed by Kalifilm Productions in Berlin, Germany.
