These fan made characters are very unpopular, due to their problematic nature, as these characters take away the diverse aspects to the character they are supposed to replicate known as Alastor.
Alastor is a character from the very popular web-series, Hazbin Hotel which is aired on the platform Youtube. He is in the supporting cast, and is considered a ‘Tumblr Sexyman’ by Hazbin Hotel’s fanbase, and a great majority of internet users who use this slang term.
This internet slang means a fictional character, usually male that is very popular, and has a lot of young teenage fans who have developed crushes on them. So, before we go over all these alternate Alastors, what is Alastor himself like anyway? Alastor is one of the many demons in the Hazbin Hotel universe. He is considered a ‘lord’ in hell for his ability to massacre many powerful leaders in his universe. He’s also very attached to his mother, and the time he was born in the early 1900’s, hating any technology made after that time. He enjoys hurting others, and uses his charm, and sharp fashion to intimidate people, despite his lack of hygiene.
He also makes a point to smile, he refuses to not smile, and sees others as weak for not smiling, in fact his favorite song is You’re Never Fully Dressed Without a Smile by Charles Strouse. He also enjoys radio hosting, which is what he did when he was alive (he was also a serial killer in his living life) his voice sounds strained by a radio when he speaks, and he radio broadcasted his killings, and acts of cannibalism to all of hell. His hobbies include music, and cooking. He also enjoys musicals, having his own musical number in Hazbin Hotel, and enjoying watching musicals.
He’s also aroace which is a queer label meaning the inability to feel romantic, and sexual attraction as much as the avarage person, and most of the time, not feeling romanitc, or sexual feelings towards anyone at all. He is also a mixed-race Creole.
This is important information because the reason most of these alternate versions of Alastor are disregarded is because these aspects of Alastor are ignored. Which is very questionable, and upsetting.
