Supplies

To Bob Ross, you need the supplies. Here are some supplies you need or might want, note that all of these supplies you don't need, but it's fun to have and/or use.

  1. Paint brushes, try to buy a variety of brushes.
  2. Acrylic, oil, latex, tempera, gouache, and watercolor paints. *If painting on a canvas the best paints to use are acrylic and oil paints. Latex, tempera (egg tempera if that helps you find it) and gouache are okay paints to use on an canvas. Watercolors are a no-no if wanting to paint on a canvas.* More information on the best and worst paints to use.
  3. *If the link doesn't work, go to search bar and type "Best and Worst paints to use on a canvas." Sorry for the inconvenience.

  4. Canvas', paper, cardstock, any material you can paint on.* Primed canvas' are better than unprimed. Umprimed soak up all the paint, while primed don't. If you can't find any primed canvas' look for oil or arylic gesso primer and apply it to canvas, let dry and use. One layer is good to use, you can add more layers. Remember this, the more layers you put on, the fainter the color of your paint will be.
  5. Easels, I would recommend useing a posable wooden easel. Plastic is cheaper, but will also break quicker and will look unproffesional, but do as you wish!
  6. Palette, to hold your paint, use a plastic, wood or resin.
