With uranium, you can upgrade redstone machines. Upgraded pistons will push 1 block further, dispensers and droppers will shoot with more force, lamps will glow brighter and green, and redstone dust will have a larger range.
Nuclear Reactors act like a generator for redstone connected to it, but it's a bit unstable, if the power is too high it will have a meltdown or a chance of having a nuclear explosion. Nuclear explosions are 5 times bigger than TNT explosions and will leave radiation particles which look like cyan sparkles and if you go near the crater you will get the radiation poisoning effect. Nuclear reactors are a stable nuclear power generator but you have to operate it often to make sure it doesn't have a meltdown.
