History of RC

The history of RC... Who else wonders about where it started? Well, it actually started in the United States and in the United Kingdom. And It was started by a man named John Hays Hammond Jr.

And technically, John did actually create Remote/Radio Control, but he did not invent the first RC car. John created the basis of every wireless electric device/ working system that is used today (The internet, 5G, and the wireless TV control system), as well as RC cars and vehicles.

Although John's creation gave way to invent the RC car, the question now is "Who created the first RC car?". And the answer to that question is not a "who", its a "them". And it's a company named "Elettronica Giocattoli" from Reggio Emilia, Italy. This company made the first RC car (shown below) in December of 1966, and it was based on a Ferrari 250LM and it was a 1:12th scale.

But about 20-21 years after this car was made a "little" company at the time was beginning to make hobby-grade 1:10th scale vehicles. And they were blowing their competition away from the public eye. Although now, their products are revoultionary, tough, fast, and well-built. But can you guess the name of the company? If you guessed Traxxas, you are correct! Traxxas was formed in 1986-1987, but their cars inspired other companies like ARMA, HPI, Kyosho, and other RC brands. But as technology of everyday life started advancing, so did Remote Control technology. So then, RC technology started including things like: Brushless motors, Brushless ESC's, High power steering servos, tougher plastic, and bigger cars! Like their predecessors, they kept the RC hobby fun. But one thing is for sure... The history of RC wouldn't have been possible without the great geniuses, John Hays Hammond Jr. and the "Elettronica Giocattoli" company.
