Monkey D. Luffy is the Captain of the Straw Hat Pirates. As a young boy Luffy was surrounded by pirates, growing up in a harbor town and always strived to be the Pirate King by finding and claiming the legendary ONE PIECE. The one piece is the hidden treasure of the best pirate of all time and is said to store more riches than you can imagine. At the a young age, Luffy ate a Devil Fruit, which he stole from one of the pirates that came ashore. A Devil Fruit is a mystical fruit that grants the recipient who eats the fruit, amazing powers, but gets rid of their ability to swim (which is bad for a pirate). It granted Luffy the ability to turn his skin into rubber, therefore making him a stretchy man!
Luffy, over time got the trust of really strong individuals who eventually joined his crew. With a whopping 800+ episodes, Luffy and the rest of the Straw Hat Pirates go around the world looking for the One Piece encountering many dangers and foes along the way.
To activate his power, Luffy must yell Gum-Gum followed by various words to make his body do special things. Such as Gum-Gum Pistol, Gum-Gum Rocket, Gum-Gum Gattling Gun, you get the idea.
