Why is Shadowhunters one of my favorite tv shows?:

I first discovered Shadowhunters on Hulu, and after I watched the first two episodes I pretty much got hooked. I found out that the show stemmed from a book series, which I also proceeded to read. Meanwhile, I was watching the show as it gradually got better and better, and also more unique from the books even though it was based on it. Beginning with Clary Fray, just a recently turned 18 year-old girl who loved art, it follows her as she discovers she is a Shadowhunter, a half angel-half human being that protect the human world from the demon world. Meanwhile, she is searching for her mother, who has gotten kidnapped by her father (for something she had hidden 18 years ago, precisely when she ran from him while she was still pregnant with Clary), who Clary later finds is not the hero her mother put him up to be. The Shadow World has all that we heard in the stories, because as we know, "All the legends are true." With old friends like Simon and new ones like Jace and the Lightwoods, as well as those who helped hide her and her mother from the Shadow World and her father like the High Warlock Magnus Bane, Clary navigates this new world and tries to find her place in it as Clary Fairchild, and her old life as Clary Fray. The show was sadly canceled after 3 seasons, giving us only an extra two hour, two episoded end. As Jace, or Dominic Sherwood, said in reference to Theodor Geisel, "Don’t cry that it’s over, smile that it happened." So it was great while it lasted and if you decide to check it out, trust me it can be hard to get through the first season as it didn't have the best acting or sets, but it definitely got better as the seasons went along.
