Black Sabbath

Birmingham, England heavy metal band Black Sabbath formed in 1968 (holy crap, that long ago?) by singer Ozzy Osbourne, guitarist Tony Iommi, bassist Geezer Butler, and drummer Bill Ward. They are widely considered as pioneers of heavy metal. They released their first album in early 1970 and holy frick, that was a heavy album for it's time. They released their album Paranoid later that year. In 1979, Osbourne left the band and was replaced by Ronnie James Dio (who later formed the band Dio) They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2005. They disbanded in 2017.
