The best way to fish greatly depends on the species you are going for and the current time of year. However, there are 5 basic rules and tricks that can apply to just about anyone in the State.

1. The best times to fish are dawn and dusk, with midday being the worst
2. Bigger lures equal bigger fish, but can take longer to work
3. Live bait rarely fails, and can attract almost any species
4. Always sink your bait when water is very cold or very hot
5. The best conditions to fish are just before or just after a cold front or rainstorm
