Hot off the momentum off the release of lead member Kevin Abstracts second solo album, 'ARIZONA baby' towards the end of April and beginning of May, BROCKHAMPTON was ready to get back into the studio and begin recording their 5th studio album, GINGER. BROCKHAMPTON was set to make their return to music at New Yorks "Governers Ball" Music Festival. Members teasing the start of a new era. The day of their set, fans were greeted to a massive golden plane, held up by two blue hands as their new stage design, and each member came out of the plane wearing metallic jumpsuits. The new era had begun. Fans all over social media had been speculating what the new album was going to be called and how it would sound. Throughout the month of June, fans began to notice on social media, members wearing clothing that said 'GINGER' on it. Many believed that this would either be a new clothing line from the group, or the name of the long awaited 5th album. In the middle of May, on the social media app Tiktok, the second track off the album, SUGAR, was leaked. On the first day of July, the band began to tease the album, releasing a 49 second snippet of a song from the album, which would later be track 11, LOVE ME FOR LIFE. On the 18th, released a second snippet, officially announcing their 5th studio album would be called 'GINGER', also teasing track 5, ST. PERCY. On the 22nd of July, and 5th, 12th, 20th, and 23rd of August, they released merchandise. On the 31st of July, released the first single from the album, I BEEN BORN AGAIN, along with a music video. They did the same thing for tracks IF YOU PRAY RIGHT, BOY BYE, and NO HALO. The band recorded the album at producer Rick Rubin's studio, Shangri-La troughout summer, and officially released the album on August 23rd.
