The the Stanley Cup was made by somone who liked hockey very much. His name was Lord Stanley. Every year the Stanley cup gets bigger and bigger because when one team wins the championship they add another ring. The first Stanley cup was not big at all and it was not named the Stanley Cup either. It was originally named the Dominion Hockey Challenge Cup. One weird thing about the Stanley Cup is that not all the teams and players names are spelled correctly.

In 1924 when the Montreal Canadians were going to celebrate their victory their bus got a flat tire. When they were fixing the tire they took the Stanley Cup out while they were waiting. Then the Canadians were back on the road and ready to celebrate, but when they got to their destination the realized they left the cup on the side of the road.

One time when the Stanley Cup was on display in Chicgo for the defending champions the Chicago Blackhawks a Montreal Canadians fan tried to steal it, but not because he wanted to keep it. When he was about to walk out the door the cops stopped him. He said he was going to take it back to Montreal where it belongs.
