What kind of paper is the BEST for origami?

The best kind of paper is origami paper. It is made specially for origami. It is easy to fold while holding on to it's shape. A standard piece of origami paper is about five to six inches. If you don't have origami paper, you can always use:

• Wrapping paper
• Copy paper or notebook paper
• Post-It notes (be carful with the sticky side)
• Money can be used for some origami
• Tissue paper can work though it might be a little floppy
• Any other paper that is light weight and easy to fold will work too

I do not recommend using cardstock because it is harder to fold vs. other kinds of paper like copy paper or wrapping paper.

Helpful Hints

When creating origami masterpieces, all folds need to be perfect or you might have a spot where there is too much paper showing. Some things you can do to help get perfect lines are:

• Using a squeegee (like ones from Cricut) can help make smooth folds.
• Tweezers can help with creating tiny folds.
• A flat surface so you can easily fold wouldn't hurt either.
