Budget

Budget: $20-$40 a day = $180 to $360. We assume lunch each day at $15. You can adjust the budget per your eating habits.


Day 1 Friday March 31: Flight. See Airport Procedures for departure specifics.

  • Day 3 Sunday April 2: Osaka. Osaka guided sightseeing tour. Visit Osaka Castle. Visit the Cupnoodles Museum. Visit a game center to experience a Japanese arcade. Tour director led walking tour of Osaka's Dotonburi canal street.

  • Day 4 Monday April 3: Day trip to Nara. Travel to the Nara region. Explore Nara with our tour director. Visit the Todaiji Temple. Take a Taiko drumming lesson.

  • Day 5 Tuesday April 4: Travel to Tokyo by bullet train. Expret local guided tour of Tokyo. Visit the Meiji Shinto Shrine. Visit the Harajuku shopping district. Explore Shibuya Ward and visit the Pokemon Center.

  • Day 6 Wednesday April 5: Tokyo. Visit the Suginami Animation Museum and participate in an anime workshop. Enjoy a traditional Japanese tea ceremony. Prepare dinner at a cooking class led by a local Japanese chef.

  • Day 7 Thursday April 6: Day trip to the Fuji-Hakone-Izu region. Visit Fuji-Hakone-Izu National Park. Take a cruise on Lake Ashi. Ride the Mount Komagatake cable car (weather permitting). See Mt. Fuji.

  • Day 8 Friday April 7: Tokyo. Visit the Hamarikyu Japanese Gardens. Explore the Asakusa Kannon Temple. Time to explore Odaiba. Karaoke evening.

    This budget gives an idea of what to expect. Entrances to all activities listed above are included. Each student’s needs and budget may be different. Your traveler can use this as a guide for how much money to have available on a credit/debit card. Each traveler can scale up or down. I just wanted to give a guesstimate to you. My high schooler is traveling, and I plan to provide him a budget of $250-300.

    FYI—students can also pack snacks. Granola bars, trail mix, and nuts travel well and do not take up much space in a suitcase. Students can also pack a reusable water bottle.
