The Hunger Games, written by Suzanne Collins, is a rather dark 4-book series.
It is set in the future in North America, but they call it Panem. It is a dystopian story, with lots of interesting and gripping plot twists. I would not recomend this to readers who don't like things such as blood and/or violence, death, cruel acts, descriptive words for the violence and blood, and other things.
However, I still love this series so very much, as it is a well written story for mostly anyone, and it very much puts things into perspective. I love this because it is a generally good plot and story, and there is a hint of romance. Although I am not a fan of the gore, I still liked reading this series.
The main character is very empowering, and some people could even relate to her. This is such a fun series to read, and it is very well written. Again, I would highly, highly recommend this series to mostly anyone, because it is an amazing series.
