As a result of climate change, temperatures are rising, species are becomeing extincet, and drought risks are increasing. This is what we will discuss in this article.

Hotter Temperature

Climate change has also resulted in hotter temperatures, which is a challenge for our planet (NASA, n.d.). Some of this is caused by the greenhouse gases emitted into the atmosphere, leading to more frequent heatwaves (NOAA, 2021). These heatwaves are risks to the human health, ecosystems, and agriculture (World Health Organization, 2021). It's imperative to take action to reduce greenhouse gas emissions on a daily basis, to help slow the speed of the rising temperatures (United Nations, 2021).

Loss of Species

There has been a devastating loss of species due to climate change (World Wildlife Fund, 2021). Rising temperatures and changing weather patterns have disrupted ecosystems. Especially species such as polar bears and coral reefs (IPCC, 2019; National Geographic, 2022). Changing rainfall patterns are also causing deforestation and affecting species such as African elephants, orangutans, and koalas (Rainforest Foundation, 2020). Moreover, Monarch butterflies and various bird species also face challenges in finding suitable migration conditions as the weather pattern has changed (Smithsonian Magazine, 2021).

Increased Risks of Droughts and Floods

Climate change is the main reason why both droughts and floods have become more intense throughout the years, being a risk to communities and ecosystems worldwide (IPCC, 2021). As temperatures rise, evaporation increases, leading to more frequent droughts (NASA, n.d.). These droughts have catastrophic impacts on agriculture, water availability, and biodiversity, affecting both rural and urban areas (World Bank, 2021). Additionally, climate change contributes to a higher persentage of rainfall, which is increased at a rate of .2 inches per decade since 1901(NOAA, 2021). These extreme effects caused by global warming result in significant property damage, loss of lives etc (United Nations, 2019).
