Information about wolves

Wolf is a large canine native to Eurasia and North America. They are found in many different types of places and more than 30 subspecies have been discovered of wolves. They have a meduim amout of lifespan of 16 to 14 years old and they eat Arctic foxes. Wolves have a really easy way of communicating and that is by howling. You may think that a wolf is not that harmful but they are because they always call other wolves and they hunt you down in a pack of 6 to 12 and that is really hard to escape. Wolves nearly do not even attack humans. In the lower 48 states, gray wolves were hunted to near extinction, but some populations survived and a few gray wolves survived in Europe, but many live in Alaska, Canada, and Asia. Wolfs are known to roam around a lot for their prey and they travel around 12 miles a day. The ability of wolves to form strong social bonds with one another is what makes the wolf pack possible. A dominance hierarchy is established within the pack, which helps maintain order. The alpha male and alpha female continually assert themselves over their subordinates, and they guide the activities of the group. Wolves play a key role in keeping ecosystems healthy. They help keep deer and elk populations in check, which can benefit many other plant and animal species. The carcasses of their prey also help to redistribute nutrients and provide food for other wildlife species, like grizzly bears and scavengers. Scientists are just beginning to fully understand the positive ripple effects that wolves have on ecosystems. Many people hunt down their skin because they help protect you from the cold and they make good jackets in the winter because their skin is used to protect from snow weathers mostly.
