Ursa Minor ⛤

A picture of the two costellations Ursa Major and Ursa Minor

Ursa Minor, also known as the Little Bear, includes the other costellation Little Dipper and the brightest star in the sky Polaris. In the past, Ursa Minor had been used as a landmark for travelers. In addition, Ursa Minor has a older sibling constellation called Ursa Minor (also shown above.)

In Greek mythology, Ursa Major is the son of Zeus and Callisto that was changed into a bear to be protected by Zeus's jealous wife, Hera because Zeus was cheating on her. Zeus puts the bear in the sky along with the Little Bear: Callisto's son, Arcas. In other myths, Ursa major and Minor are dogs instead of bears.
