What is Boba?

tapioca aka boba

Bubble tea (also known as pearl milk tea, bubble milk tea, tapioca milk tea, boba tea, or boba; Chinese: 珍珠奶茶; pinyin: zhēnzhū nǎichá, 波霸奶茶; bōbà nǎichá) is a tea-based drink that originated in Taiwan in the early 1980s. Boba is made from tapioca starch, also known as cassava starch, which is why they're often also labeled as "tapioca pearls." They're small spheres that are often simmered in a brown sugar syrup to give them a sweet taste and dark black color. It's delicious and one of the best desserts.

Boba is quickly becoming one of the most loved treats worldwide. Nowadays, you can find boba stores at almost any town and there are many unique ways people customize their boba drinks. Boba is quickly on a rise and many people around the world are trying it. If you have the chance, try boba as well!
