Basic Terms

B-air- An attack done in the air, done by holding back and the attack button or moving the C-stick backward while in the air.

F-air-An attack done in the air, done by holding forward and the attack button or moving the C-stick forward while in the air.

N-air- An attack done in the air, done by hitting the attack button while in the air.

D-air-An attack done in the air, done by holding down and the attack button or down on the C-stick.

True Combo-A combo that is impossible to escape, no matter what you do.
- Read-A educated guess at what the opponent will do in a situation.

Punish- An attack that hits an opponent that you read.

Hitbox-The part of the attack that will deal damage and/or knockback.

Hurtbox-The part of you that can be hit by attacks.
Advanced Terms

SDI-Stands for Smash Directional Influence;done by holding diagonally where you want to be launched. This can help with survivability and getting out of combos.

Parry-An advanced technique that involves letting go of shield within five frames of an attack hitting you. You will then have time to counterattack without the other player being able to do anything.

Teching-An advanced techneque that involves hitting the shield button when you hit a surface while in hitstun. This will let you roll or get up immediately.

Disjoint-A hitbox that cannot be hit by another player.
