A wheel allows motion. Based on what tire it has, there might be better traction or the capability to move faster.
You usually use a spacer to hold a wheel onto a rod which spins the wheel. There is various wheels from being the omni wheel to a standard rubber wheel. The omni wheel allows you to move forwards, back, left and right while a standard rubber wheel allows to get on a slippery platform much easier. Sometimes, you may want to use more than one kind of wheel on a robot to create multiple uses onto the robot in movement, like having one omni wheel and four rubber wheels to create better movement. Sometimes, you need to also sacrifice some capabilities to create new opportunities in robots with wheels.
