The Declaration of Independence
On July 4, 1776
On July 2, 1776, Congress voted to declare independence.The document announced the separation of 13 North American British colonies from Great Britain. This was what led the colonies to conclude separation from Great Britain.At this time the American Revolution began, therefore most colonists were not seeking independence.Presidents Thomas Jefferson and John Adams were who signed the paper. Edward Rutledge (age 26) was the youngest signer and Benjamin Franklin (age 70) the oldest.

Boston Tea Party
On April 19, 1775
- The Boston Tea Party wasn’t actually a party, despite it’s name. In fact, it was a political protest started by the Sons of Liberty – a secret society of American colonists who wanted to fight taxation by the British government. They were led by Samuel Adams.

- The Boston Tea Party happened on December 16, 1773 in Boston, Massachusetts
- During the Boston Tea Party, an entire shipment of tea sent from Britain was destroyed and thrown into the sea ,340 chests of tea were destroyed at the Boston Tea Party.
- The Boston Tea Party was one of the main triggers for the American Revolution, which began in Massachusetts on April 19, 1775, just outside Boston.

The American Revolution was an a political and military struggle between 1765 and 1783 when 13 of Britain's North American colonies rejected its rule. The protest began to taxes risen without colonial representation by the British monarchy and Parliament.
