The Background of Softball
These are the Rules of Softball
The rules of softball are...
- There are two teams
- One team is batting and the other team is in the field, offense and defense
- There are seven innings and a top and bottom in all seven innings.
- There are nine players on the field. There is pitcher, catcher, first basemen, second basemen, shortstop, third basemen, right fielder, left fielder, and center fielder.
- If you, the pitcher, throws four "balls" the batter gets to go to first base and if you, the pitcher, throws three strikes the batter is out.
- If the runner runs into the fielder the runner is automatically out. This is called contact with the fielder.
- There is also, if you are the batter, and the ball hits you in the batter's box you, as the batter, is out. Also, if the ball hits home plate, third base, or first base and bounce back behind the bag, that is a fair ball.
- If you foul the ball off then that is a strike!
- There are many other rules and regulations
