FACTS ABOUT FOOD SCARCITY

  1. The term "Food Deserts" are areas where people might ot be able to meet their nutritional needs due to a lack of fresh and healthy food.
  2. The most concentrated Food Deserts in the United States are within urban and rural communities.
  3. When people don't get the amount of fresh food they need, they can take on diet-related health problems such as obesity, diabetes, and heart disease.
  4. People living in Food Deserts can have a harder time getting job and education opportunities, leading to them having little to no options to escape their situation.
  5. A lack of grocery stores and public transportation are main factors in the growth of Food Deserts across the United States.
