Sushi is one of the most popular Japanese dishes that so many people know about! Lots of poeople eat it but what is the definition of sushi and who created it and where did they create it? Sushi is specially prepared rice and usually some type of fish or seafood, often raw, but sometimes cooked. There are many different types of sushi but the sushi that we know and eat today also known as nigirizushi was created in the 1820s or 1830s. One common story of the origin of nigirizushi origins is of the chef Hanaya Yohei (1799–1858), who invented or perfected the technique in Ryōgoku, a district in Sumida Tokyo. Tonkatsu is a yummy Japanese dish that consists of coating pork with panko, (bread crumbs) and deep frying it until it becomes a golden brown color. It is usually served with sauce or on rice. So who made it? In 1899, Motojiro Kida, who is the founder of Renga-tei, a Western cuisine restaurant in Ginza, added pork cutlets to the menu. At that time, the preparation of cutlets was time-consuming: each slice of meat was first sautéed, and then grilled in the oven. Unagi means freshwater eel in Japaneese! It is a popular dish that is eaten in japan and many other places around the world! It is usually eaten with rice or by itself. Unagi farming started at Lake Hamana in 1891, more than 100 years ago. It started when Kurajiro Hattori from Fukagawa, Tokyo, determined that the warm land of Hamamatsu is perfect for farming unagi, and developed an eel farm.
