Red Jasper

Background

Red Jasper is stone that is commonly found within Native American culture. It was used for ceremonies, such as a rain-making ritual. It also thought to bring guidance to the person wearing the stone when searching for water. Even some tibes thought that red Jasper would increase one's sensitivity to Earth, giving it the nickname "Earth Mother's blood." Native Americans also used the stone to stimulate health and re-birth, new ideas and strategies.

Appearance

Red Jasper is a form of quartz, otherwise known as a form of Chalcedony. It is usually red, yellow, brown or green due to the amount of silica found within the stone. Silica is also known as silicon dioxide, it is commonly found in nature, primarily quartz. Due to its relativelt smooth surface, red jasper can be used as a good "worry stone."
