Summer is usually harder to catch fish because it is very hot so the fish don't want to do anything, but on the other hand, they also need food so they will still attack bait most of the time.
Crank Baits are great for any time of the year but great to get the fish's attention during the summer because they look like bait fish and flutter around sending vibrations, they also most of the time, come with rattles in them to send sound. To fish this I would just crank it fast and change the speed now and then.
Spinnerbaits are great lures because they look like a small school of fish that the bass could eat. For a trailer I would say use a plastic swimbait or a trailer hook for a better hook-up ratio, to fish this I would either slowly retrieve it or fast and slow mixed.
Topwater frogs are great for summer bass fishing because the bass eat topwater all the time, and frogs are something that are already in nature, to fish this lure I would reel it in really fast then slow then fast over and over again.
