What is Serving?

A serve is used to put the ball into play to start the volley. The serve is the only skill controlled solely by one player. Therefore, a players serve will dramatically affect the outcome of the volley and then of course the outcome of the game.

There are two main types of serves that are commonly used in Volleyball. These two serves are called overhand and unverhand serving. Overhand serving is used in competitive volleyball. However, you may also underhand serve if you are a less experienced player.
