Ranmaru Kageyama was going to be one of the 20 participants in the Death Game. He died in the First Trial tho.Ranmaru is a thin, short, teenage boy with gray-blue eyes and soft, fluffy-looking white hair with bangs. Ranmaru wears a high school gakuran uniform, with an especially cropped top. The pants are held up with a light gray belt. His body is wrapped in bandages from collarbone to the palms of his hands and he wears a shuriken-shaped pendent. He's also wearing indoor school slippers.
He wears a collar as do all participants, dummies, and floor masters. Like all of the dummies, Ranmaru wears one that was specially made for doll usage. Rio Ranger does not seem to take any of Ranmaru's clothing.Ranmaru is a casual and easy-going boy. He is generally placid in nature, although occasionally flustered, such as when Sara holds his hand. He seems to come off as nervous or awkward in certain situations. Ranmaru also tries to keep quiet and distant until provoked. He thinks ahead before dealing with dangerous scenarios, showing his level-headedness and his good perception.
He is shown to be compassionate and expresses a want to be useful to others. He's shown to be cooperative, seeing advantages in numbers. He is somewhat brave when he wants to be, such as when he took it upon himself to become "it" to relieve Sara and shut down Hinako questioning him by saying he can do whatever he wants. Despite this, he holds a great fear of death, doing nothing during the battle with Midori in the case that Midori's death would result in his own as well.
He doesn't seem to hold the others in high regards, saying "Can't stand it. We have to support these guys?" when the participants first found them. He often pokes fun at others, albeit very dryly. He doesn't appear to trust the human participants. As all of the dummies supposedly possess different info, Ranmaru's is that one of the human participants is working with Asunaro. However, he shows respect for Sara, noting her good ideas and quick wit. He tries to protect her, though whether this is out of necessity or desire isn't quite clear.
Mai Tsurugi was also supposed to be one of the 20 participants in the Death Game. She died in the First Trial.Mai is an adult woman with wild short reddish-brown hair and bright orange eyes. She wears a large cream puff shaped hat, a short dress with a beige bust and brown skirt held up with red ribbon straps that tie around her neck, and detachable brown sleeves that have white frilly accents. As a human, she wore a pair of red gloves that were later taken by Rio Ranger. These remain missing from her doll counterpart She wears a collar as do all participants, Dummies, and Floor Masters. Like all of the Dummies, Mai wears one that was specially made for doll usage.
Mai comes across as friendly and flirtatious. She is talkative and excitable, occasionally making remarks that make people uncomfortable such as asking Sara to rub her cheek out of appreciation for her doll-form. She tries her best to help the group, though sometimes her ideas lack foresight. This is shown in the optional bad ending, in which she lights a firework inside of a library to fight monsters, leading the room to be engulfed in flame with no exit.
Mai, like the rest of the dolls, was given the task to kill her partner to ensure her own safety. She was the first to attempt it, stabbing Q-taro in the back, displaying a lack of remorse after doing so. It’s later suspected that all the dolls were awaiting the perfect moment to kill their partners, which can be backed up as Mai was often seen close to Q-taro during the investigative periods.
In her First Trial, Mai is shown to be panicked to the point of sobbing. Unable to make a decision, she decided to go with a random choice that would seal her fate.
Hinako Mishuku was supposed to be one of the 20 participants in the Death Game. She died during the First Tria (like every doll/dummies).Hinako has long pink hair with bangs parted to the side and long strands framing her face. She has large, lifeless dark eyes with heavy circles below them.
Hinako wears her middle school sailor-styled uniform. It has a light brown long-sleeved top with a white collar and red ribbon, as well as red buttons and a matching skirt. Her thigh-high socks are also a matching brown with a diagonal diamond pattern. And like all the dummies she wear a special collar.
In her final moments alive, Hinako is shown thanking Rio Ranger after realizing he had a part in her death, revealing that she had wanted to die.
Hinako has a blunt way of speaking and somewhat of a fatalist mindset; stating "there's no way to deal with this" in the face of Hayasaka's near-death. Remarked by Gin to be "kinda violent," Hinako easily comes up with solutions for fighting the monsters they encounter, and always offers to fight whatever's in the group's way.
She is rather strategic and thinks before speaking; stating her means of defense against the Death Game is keeping the information she has to herself, for the time being, not wanting to be used by the others.
However, despite her analytical behavior, Hinako is also shown to be slightly different from her human form. She wants to survive and is quick to get on to the other dolls when they insist on helping the survivors, evident when the others try to stop Q-taro from bleeding. She is also quite judgemental and aggravated in the Shin Survives route when Ranmaru decides to be "it" for Sara. As well, during the battle with Midori, she actively stops participants from attacking him, such as grabbing on to Gin's shovel or knocking the gun from Keiji if he tries to shoot, which further proves her desire to live.
Shunsuke Hayasaka was one of the 20 participants in the Death Game. He died in the First Trial though.Hayasaka is a lanky man roughly in his mid-twenties with grown out, somewhat messy brown hair and blue eyes. He wears a pair of gray-rimmed rectangular glasses. He's seen wearing a suit that consists of a buttoned-up grey jacket over a long-sleeved button-up white shirt, a striped blue and white tie, and a pair of matching gray pants.
He wears a collar as do all participants, Dummies, and Floor Masters. Like all of the Dummies, Hayasaka wears one that was specially made for doll usage.Hayasaka is a rather anxious and submissive man who stutters and laughs when he is particularly nervous. Afraid of the monsters that come to attack, he does his best to help fend them off with the others. His kindness and humanity are expressed with how distraught he is when Gin risks his life to save him, considering that, as a Dummy, he isn't truly mortal. Hayasaka originally worked for an unspecified corporation that dealt with medical machinery. He met a person from ASU-NARO and gave them information on the participants.
Kurumada is a muscular young man with bright pink eyes and dark skin. He has layered, fluffy, short hair that goes from green to dark blue in shade from the inside out. He wears a dull black tank top with a frayed hem, orange pants, and bandage wraps around his wrists.Like all dummies he wears a special doll collar.Kurumada is brusque and does not trust people easily. He tends to banter with others and occasionally refer to them dismissively.
He is also shown to be laid-back and even a bit of a bully, teasing the others and referring to them with strange nicknames. Evidence of this is when Sara takes Sou's collar and Anzu questions if it might explode, in which he loudly imitates an explosion, causing her to freak out. Another occasion is when Kurumada refers to Ranmaru as "Fluffy-mop buddy". Kurumada was a professional boxer. He was known as "Convertible of Destruction".
Anzu Kinashi was one of the 20 participants in the Death Game. She died in the First Trial.Anzu is a shapely teenage girl with long blue hair with strands of pink hair that run down the sides of her face, round pink eyes, and pink eyebrows. She wears a golden-yellow hood with black trim and a matching turtleneck sweater. Under that, she wears a pleated pink and blue skirt that matches her hair and knee-high pink socks under blue and yellow shoes.Every doll wear there special collar so she wear one too
In her first trial, Anzu had trouble comprehending and adapting to high-stress situations and reverted to calling for help even though it seemed unlikely. Though in Chapter 3, Anzu shows a different side of her personality, where she acts bubbly and slightly air-headed. She says that she loves dressing up as a clown but is insecure about this and immediately asks Sara if she thinks she's weird after revealing her clown endeavors.Yet she was a high-schooler but she work side job in her clown job
